3-Tab Shingles
Strip asphalt shingles, or 3-tab shingles, are the most cost-effective version of asphalt shingles. They contain a single layer each of base material, asphalt and mineral coating. Since they contain a minimal number of layers, they are light, reducing the load your roof’s structure has to bear.
Architectural (Dimensional) Shingles
Architectural or dimensional shingles work well for multi-family homes, strata or commercial properties with sloping roofs. They are made from two or more layers of asphalt-saturated fiberglass mats to offer a stronger shingle. Although heavier than strip asphalt shingles, they offer greater wind resistance, better fire-retardant properties, can last up to 50 years, and are less likely to crack and curl. Another advantage is that they are available in multiple colours, letting you choose your aesthetic.
Premium (Luxury) Shingles
These high-grade asphalt shingles contain multiple layers of materials that give them a 3-dimensional look that mimics real slate. Higher granule counts make these shingles the right choice if you live in areas that are prone to storms and hail. Special coatings also make them more energy efficient than other types of asphalt shingles. While they come at a higher price point, they offer superior longevity and a distinctive, upscale finish.
